Museums

With a lot of history comes a lot of museums! And Reykjavik has a lot. Explore the ancient mysteries of the lands or view art from many of Iceland's most famous artists. There are museums for people with all interests.


Check out below for some of the more popular Museums Reykjavik has to offer. But remember, the museums themselves are only a small part of the experience. Hike up to the Perlan Museum, also known as the Pearl, at sunset and enjoy a spectacular view of the city as it gets ready for the night.

There's a lot to discover in Reykjavik, and there's tons of things to do with families. When you have to stay indoors a good portion of the year, you learn to cook and socialize! And Iceland loves both. When the weather begins to warm up, you will be hard pressed finding anyone staying at home in the evenings. Summer is a great time to explore the different restaurants and bars that Reykjavik has on offer.


There are all types of restaurants to enjoy in the city. If you are interested in trying traditional Icelandic foods, you should head over to Matur og Drykkur. Or if you are wanting to try more modern cusisines, check out Dill, which earned a Michelin star in 2009.
